New publication by POLS PhD Student Aybars Görgülü

Political Science PhD candidate Aybars Görgülü published 2 book chapters and an article.

He contributed to the recently published book Another Empire? A Decade of Turkey’s Foreign Policy Under the Justice and Development Party. The book draws on a conference organized at Oxford University with the title “Turkeys foreign policy in a changing world: Old alignments and new neighborhoods”, in May 2010. Görgülü’s article is titled "The Litmus Test for Turkey’s New Foreign Policy: The Historical Rapprochement with Armenia" where he discusses the background and consequences of the recent rapprochement process between Turkey and Armenia.

Secondly Aybars published a paper
titled "Turkey and the South Caucasus in 2010" in the edited volume
Caucasus 2010 prepared by the Caucasus Institute, Armenia. The papers
included in this volume describe main political, social and economic
trends in the South and Northern Caucasus, propose their comparative
analysis, look into regional security including its global aspects,
and analyze conflict resolution prospects. The book is published in
Russian and can be downloaded from the link below.

Lastly, Aybars Aybars Görgülü published an article in Review of Armenian Studies, a biannual journal of History, Politics and International Relations. The article titled 'A dispute over Nagorno-Karabakh: A Protracted Conflict' discusses the historical background of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, identifies the positions of the main parties involved and analyzes the dispute from two different level-of-analyses.
