New Arts Building for Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
SUSAM (Sabancı University Art and Research Center), Turkish for “sesame”, the new building on Sabancı University campus primarily dedicated to the Visual Arts track of the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design program at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, has started its activities in the 2020-2021 academic year.
SUSAM hosts series of Arts classes, including Visual Language and Language of Drawing, as well as several art studio classes. Fully equipped with a wood and metal workshop, this new building provides students and artists with the space to realize their artistic production. In addition to the studios, a particular space within SUSAM, entitled “Speranza”, is set up which offers the warm atmosphere of a continuously growing library, and a venue for research activities as well as seminars and meetings. SUSAM’s high-ceiling amphitheater-like hallway provides an inviting space for exhibitions, conferences, film screenings, theatre and art performances, and live music concerts.
