Mehmet Kuru's TÜBİTAK Projects
TÜBİTAK 1001 (Research Grant) and TÜBİTAK 3501 (Career Development Grant) will fund Mehmet Kuru’s research project.
Project Title of TÜBİTAK 1001: “A Global-Micro historical Study on the 17th-Century Ottoman and Mediterranean World: Customs Officer Hasan Agha and His Brother, Tuscan Gonfaloniere Anton Bogos Chelebi”
The Project's Abstract: The proposed project aims to reconstruct a global-micro historical narrative by focusing on two brothers who were significant economic and political actors of the mid-seventeenth-century Ottoman and Mediterranean world.
The project is planned to be completed in 36 months. Marloes Cornelissen Aydemir (as researcher) and Zeynep Nevin Yelçe (as advisor) will be the members of the project team.
Project Title of TÜBİTAK 3501: “Aesop Alla Turca: A study on Turkish Translations of Aesop Fables From Pre-Tanzimat Era in the Context of Cultural Translation”
The Project's Abstract: The scope of the project that deals with different disciplines such as cultural history, cultural translation and literature history, involves the Turkish translation of Aesop fables from pre-Tanzimat era. Various Turkish translations of Aesop fables that were translated from different translators during the period from 17th century to the early 19th century, will be analyzed in the context of cultural translation.
In these two projects, six scholarships will be provided for one undergraduate student, two master students, two PhD students and one post-doc researcher.
