This talk aims to describe the many ways of ensuring a gender fair environment in academia. The emphasis will be on the so-called STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics) fields, which have historically been considered to be male areas. Since instances of gender inequities still occur most commonly in these fields, much effort has been made all around the world, resulting in considerable improvements for a gender fair academic environment in STEM.
