“The Beginnings: Different Approaches to Drawing 2005” at Kasa Gallery

This year’s exhibition as a part of ‘The Beginnings: Different
Approaches to Drawing’ series opens on 20th April at Sabanc› University
Kasa Gallery. Works of three artists who produce in different genre and
media will be on show until 28th May2005.
Drawing, which starts as scribbles on pieces of paper and is considered
as the foreshadow of the creative process, is the focus of the series
and this year’s participating artists are Bayram Candan sculptor, Esat
Tekand painter and Murat Y›lmaz advertorial art director.
The exhibition proposes diverse attitudes in language of drawing;
Bayram Candan’s installation composed of metal wire figurines and
clocks, which carries the perception of drawing to the third dimension,
Esat Tekand’s preparatory sketches for various stage and costume
designs, and Murat Y›lmaz’s drawings of ‘meeting doodling’ grouped
under various themes, will be on show.
Artists:
Bayram Candan graduated from Trakya University Ceramics Department in
1985 and from Dokuz Eylül University Fine Arts Faculty Department
of Sculpture in 1990. Worked at Ege Seramik, ‹zmir State Theater and
‹zmir Konak Municipality. Established his workshop in 1992. Produced
various sculptural works using materials such as metal, wood and bronze
in Turkey and abroad. His latest exhibitions were Yalama Olmufl
C›vatalar, Ser-gi-ysi Atefl Performans›, and Ser-gi-ysi Vitrin
Sergisi.
Esat Tekand Since 1980 presented many solo exhibitions with his works
of painting and sculpture and participated in group exhibitions at home
and abroad. Worked as an art director in productions for cinema and
theater, designed and illustrated various book covers. Currently works
in Istanbul.
Murat Y›lmaz Graduated from Marmara University, Department of Graphical
Design. Worked as a graphic designer in advertisement for 18
years. Awarded many advertising and graphical design prizes, currently
works as an art director at Medina/Turgul.
