FACULTY POSITION IN POLITICAL SCIENCE / INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Sabancı University, invites applications for a full-time position in Political Science with particular focus on International Relations. The position is open as of September 2010 to mid-career candidates as well as candidates who have recently completed their Ph.D or are near completion.

Applicants must have strong methodological skills and a solid background in international relations theory. Excellence in qualitative or quantitative research skills and demonstrated desire to articulate and bridge disciplinary boundaries will be considered an asset. A strong record and potential for scholarly publication, as well as promise of outstanding teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels are important criteria of preference. The successful candidate will teach introductory and graduate level courses in comparative politics and/or international relations theory as well as courses in their areas of specialization.  

Sabancı University is a private, department-free, innovative academic institution located in one of Europe’s largest and oldest cities, Istanbul. The university is strongly committed to interdisciplinary research and teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. To meet this challenge, the faculty is organized around multi-disciplinary degree programs including Conflict Analysis and Resolution (MA), Cultural Studies (BA, MA), Economics (BA, MA, PhD), European Studies (MA), History (MA, PhD), Management (BA) Political Science (MA, PhD), Social and Political Sciences (BA), Turkish Studies (MA), Visual Arts & Communication Design (BA, MA). The medium of instruction is English. Aiming at both teaching and research excellence, the yearly teaching load is two courses per semester. The university admits top-ranking students for its undergraduate programs through a centralized university entrance examination.  Faculty members are provided with excellent support, including housing facilities on its modern campus if available or a housing stipend.
