This talk aims to describe many ways of ensuring a gender fair environment in academia. The emphasis will be on the so-called STEM (= Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics) fields, which historically are considered to be male areas. Since instances of gender inequities still occur most commonly in these fields, a lot of effort has been made all around the world resulting in numerous improvements.
