Cavit Baran

Cavit Baran is an Assistant Professor at Sabancı University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University in 2021. Before joining FASS, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He also holds a BA in Economics from TOBB UET and a Master’s degree in Economics from Koç University, which he received in 2015.

As an applied microeconomist, his research interests mostly lie in environmental and resource economics, health economics, and economic history. His recent research studies the health legacy of historical agricultural pesticides in the United States. His research on the impact of the Great Migration on African Americans’ education has been recently accepted for publication at the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics.
