Exhibition: Karolina Aszyk - Appearance
Karolina Aszyk, professor at the University of Gdańsk at the Faculty of Social Science.
The word photography comes from two Greek words: light (phos) and writing (grapho), which together means writing with light. In her photographic works, she uses structural qualities that are essential for photography, related to the existence of light and the length of exposure. To a large extent, this resulted from the adopted formal assumptions referring to the structural features of the photographic image, the most important of which is the dependence of photography on light. In the series of works “Appearece” using these photographic means of expression, she explores the relationship between the body, memory, light and time.
