Our Vision

Welcome to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences,

At FASS we promote a vibrant inter-disciplinary education around a strong core curriculum. While our core curriculum provides students with a solid background, the inter-disciplinary degree programs such as Political Science and International Relations, Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design, Cultural Studies, Psychology and Economics constitute the basis of flexible and creative thought. FASS is a vanguard faculty in Turkey because of its department-free structure. We encourage knowledge-based-confidence among our students in order for them to be able to freely choose their degree programs.

At FASS we are dedicated to scholarly excellence gauged by international standards. Our faculty members engage in leading research in collaboration with colleagues from prestigious universities around the world, as well as our graduate students. We encourage our faculty members to publish scholarly articles in top international journals with high standards and books by prominent academic presses. We find it valuable that our art faculty take part in internationally acclaimed, prestigious art exhibitions.  

    We promote student research through independent project courses. Our students are well grounded in basic research skills and supported in pursuing their own research venues. They are exposed to the highest ethical standards in teaching and research.

Our undergraduate students get a taste of both large lecture hall classes during their core terms as well as small seminars where they are encouraged to engage in scholarly discussions with their peers. During the course of their education here, students learn to ask questions as well as answering them. FASS graduates are equipped with the skills to think critically, study social phenomena from different disciplinary angles, make creative connections and express them confidently. Coexistence of strong foundational knowledge and creative flexibility is at the core of our education.
