Selçuk Artut at the 2026 Association for Art History Annual Conference
Prof. Dr. Selçuk Artut, faculty member at Sabancı University, will present his research at the prestigious 2026 Annual Conference of the Association for Art History, taking place from 8–10 April 2026 at the University of Cambridge. Hosted in collaboration with the university’s History of Art department, the conference will be held across Churchill College, Murray Edwards College, and the Møller Institute.
Titled “Tradition in Code: From Geometry to Generativity,” the presentation explores the continuity between historical geometric practices and contemporary generative art. Through a practice-based approach grounded in creative coding, Artut examines how principles such as symmetry, repetition, and procedural construction re-emerge within algorithmic systems. The paper highlights how generative art transforms technological innovation into a site of aesthetic experimentation, reaffirming the enduring dialogue between art, mathematics, and computation.
