New FASS Adjunct Faculty Member, Ayşe Üskül
Ayşe K. Üskül is Professor of Social and Cultural Psychology and Co-Director of the Centre for Research on Changing Cultures and Societies (CRoCCS) at the University of Sussex with expertise in comparative and socio-ecological approaches applied to the study of cognitive, affective, motivational, and self-related processes in human psychology. In her most recent ERC-funded project, HONORLOGIC, together with a large and interdisciplinary team of collaborators, she examined the role of honour in interactional processes (e.g., cooperation, apologies, compromise) in cultural groups around the Mediterranean and beyond. Ayşe is currently co-chief editor in European Review of Social Psychology and held position as associate editor in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Science, the European Journal of Social Psychology, and the Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology. Ayşe’s contributions to her field have been recognized through several awards including the Outstanding Contributions to Cultural Psychology Award, European Association of Social Psychology Midcareer Award and Jenessa Shapiro Contributions to Diversity and Inclusion Award. She is a fellow of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, the Association for Psychological Science, and the Society for Experimental Social Psychology.
