Weidenfeld
Leadership Programme and Scholarship Scheme

Name

Weidenfeld
Leadership Programme and Scholarship Scheme

Mission

Launched in 2007 the programme aims to cultivate the leaders of
tomorrow primarily from Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Russia, the Middle East
and North Africa by providing outstanding university graduates and young
professionals with the opportunity to:

- pursue graduate studies at Oxford University;

- and participate in a comprehensive programme of leadership skills
development, long-term mentoring and networking (including work placements,
pro-bono projects and involvement in a high-level speaker and seminar
series.)

The mission is to give the most promising young people from regions
underserved by academic scholarship and leadership training opportunities a
chance to access the knowledge, skills and international networks necessary

Management

The
programme is managed by the Weidenfeld Institute for Strategic Dialogue, a
London-based policy organisation, which works with leading figures in the
public and private sectors to bridge international and inter-communal divides
and to strengthen
Europe’s capacity to act
coherently in the global arena.

An Advisory Board overseeing the design and implementation of the programme
has been established as a sub-group of the Weidenfeld Institute’s Board of
Trustees. Its Co-Chairmen are Sir Ronald Grierson and Michael Lewis. A
Selection Committee drawn from the Advisory Board is responsible for
interviewing and electing the Scholars.
