Conflict Graduate Student Ms. Gulece Şenele has been the Manager of the Understanding Europe Project
of AEGEE-Ankara (European Students' Forum-Ankara)
for the last 2 years to date. In addition, on May 14th, 2008 at the
European Parliament Closing Ceremony of the project, she is expected
to give a speech about the outcomes of the Project and the Role of
Youth as well as the Youth NGOs in the EU Accession Process of Turkey.
The Understanding Europe Project was
carried out by AEGEE-Ankara between 2005-2008. The project aimed at raising
awareness of high school students all across Turkey on the issues related to
Europe as well as training them as active citizens. Several trainings took place
in 22 high schools in 7 provinces, each representing one geographical region of
Turkey; outreaching approximately 1500 students with different backgrounds.
This
project is considered as one of the best examples in the youth work field and
it has both domestic and international reputation. The Understanding Europe
Project is ending with a closing ceremony at the European Parliament, hosted
by the Member of European Parliament Vural Oger, on May 14th, 2008."
