The Relationship Between Autobiographical Memory and Depression

Project Abstract:
The link between depression and autobiographical memory has been previously shown in the literature, however there is little data on the directionality of this relationship. Post-partum Depression (PPD) cases can act as natural laboratories to explore the causal link due to one fact: PPD is known to be triggered by childbirth. Therefore, it is possible to track the changes in memory before and after the onset of depression. With a longitudinal design, the present project aims to explore the predictive value of the changes in autobiographical memory system, and establish the bases of a low-burden tool for improvement and diagnosis for PPD.
