TUBITAK 1001 Support - Riccardo Franceschin
Riccardo Franceschin's project "How social norms about fertility affect the actual fertility behavior and intentions of forced migrants" will be supported by TUBITAK 1001.
Franceschin talks about his project;
We're investigating how social norms about fertility affect the actual fertility behavior and intentions of forced migrants, focusing on Syrian refugees in Turkey. Our experiment involves randomizing a sample of refugees into a treatment and control group, where the treatment group receives information about fertility outcomes for natives and immigrants, while the control group only receives information about immigrants' choices. We'll then compare pregnancy intentions, outcomes, and preferences of both groups. This would be the first study in economics to isolate the role of social norms in shaping fertility decisions after a large, forced migration event.
