VAVCD Seminar Series, Merve Mepa
Merve Mepa explores the interactions between material forms and social discourse in fields such as handicraft production practices, drawing, printmaking, software and experimental hardware development, internet networks and moving images. Her cross-dimensional practices envision historical evolution of tradition, labor, network and cultural sciences, media archeology, and their methods.
Mepa has participated in various exhibitions, artist residencies, and research and production programs, including the London-based Delfina Foundation Artist Residency, Salt Artistic Research and Production Grant Program, and the Istanbul Biennale Production and Research Program. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Mathematics and Painting, earned her Master’s degree from Marmara University, and received a Proficiency in Arts Degree from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. She currently lives and works in Istanbul.
