M. Tahir Kılavuz is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Sabancı University. His research interests include political regimes, political behavior, religion and politics, survey analysis, and computational social science, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) as well as cross-regional comparisons.
His work has appeared in leading journals such as the American Political Science Review, Journal of Peace Research, Democratization, Party Politics, and Political Studies, among others. He is the principal investigator of the ERC Starting Grant project Democracy-Migration Paradox (DEMIG), which examines the tension between democratic commitment and rising anti-immigrant attitudes.
Kılavuz received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame. He previously served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Middle East Initiative at Harvard University and as a faculty member at Marmara University.
